FAWE Tanzania is pleased to announce the election of its new Board of Directors for the 2025–2028 term. The new leadership was officially elected on 25th June 2025 during the FAWE Tanzania General Assembly, held at Kingjaja in Dar es Salaam. This significant milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter in the organization’s continued efforts to promote gender equity and inclusive education for girls and young women across Tanzania.

At the helm of the newly elected Board is Dr. Mona Ngusekela Mwakalinga, Head of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Mona has been a dedicated member of FAWE Tanzania since 1998, having served twice as Vice Chairperson. She is also one of the founding figures behind the Tuseme Program, a groundbreaking initiative that empowers girls to express themselves, advocate for their rights, and build leadership skills. Her extensive experience in gender, communication, and education positions her as a strategic leader who will steer FAWE Tanzania into a stronger future.

Serving alongside Dr. Mona on the Board are Martha Makala as Secretary, Beatrice Mbigili as Treasurer, and members Halima James, Natogola Nana Mnzava, Alistidia Kamugisha, and Frida Christopher Rutatika. Together, this diverse and accomplished team brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and commitment to the organization’s vision and goals.

The election of the new Board reaffirms FAWE Tanzania’s unwavering commitment to advancing education for girls and young women. The newly appointed team brings together a shared dedication to using education as a tool for social transformation. Their leadership is expected to shape and guide the organization’s vision, policies, and partnerships for the next three years.
